AbstractAbout AuthorsReferences
Radiation-protective coatings are widely used to protect building structures and equipment exposed to radiation. During operation the coatings can accumulate radionuclides and become a secondary source of radiation. This requires their prompt and timely removal and disposal followed by the installation of the other coatings. In this case, self-adhesive coatings are the most suitable; they are produced using proven rubbers. Polymers are a common raw material for producing radiation-protective coatings. By combining the polymer matrix and filler, various types of materials can be produced, each with specific properties and meeting protection criteria under various exposures. Self-adhesive coatings are promising radiation-protective coatings due to their advanced characteristics. The aim of the research was to develop an elastic viscous matrix. The objective of the research was to determine the ratio of the components comprising the matrix. Mathematical experiment planning method was used for this purpose. As a result of the research, a non-curing matrix was developed containing 20% ethylene propylene rubber, 56% industrial oil, and 24% AFFS resin by weight. To maintain adhesive properties, no more than 50% filler should be added to the matrix. The bond strength of the radiation-protected coating with the metal during peeling was 1000=1500 n/m.
