The article is one of a series of works devoted to the theoretical and experimental analysis of the process of liquid absorption by building materials. Theoretical problems of the description of the medium absorption by the porous-capillary body are considered; issues devoted to the selection of a model of porous-capillary body, the influence of geometric parameters of the pore space, surface phenomena, geometric sizes and forms of a sample etc. are highlighted.
